He was predeceased by: his parents, Albert Earl Gilson and Gertrude Range Gilson; his grandparents, Albert, Mary Gilson and Victoria Range; his aunts, Alena Tarlton and Louise Thornton; his siblings, Lawrence A. Gilson Sr., Albert H. Gilson Sr., Earl Gilson Sr., Thurman Pierre, Iris Henderson, Patricia Thomas and Joyce Gilson; and his sister-in-law Lillie H. Gilson.

He is survived by: his child Diedra Gilson Miller (Kendrick); his grandchild Kennedy; his sisters, Rena Ventriss (Gail), Brenda Marshall (Weldon), Carolyn Williams (Jimmie) and Karen Pierre; and his sister-in-law Mildred L. Gilson. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
