He was predeceased by: his siblings, Adian Burnett, Robert Burnett, Arden Burnett, Helen Savell, Onida Brantley and Charlotte Loper; his brother-in-law Roger Prentiss; and his parents-in-law, Margaret and Elvin Case.
He is survived by: his wife Sylvia Case Burnett; and his siblings, James Burnett (Bobby Jean) of Vicksburg, MS, Kenneth Burnett (Bonnie) of Knoxville, TN, Betty Matens (Paul) of Madison, MS, Margaret Ard (Isaiah) of Ruth, MS, Leroy Burnett (Diane) of Brookhaven, MS and Martha Beavers of Bogue Chitto, MS. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Highland Colony Baptist Church at 1200 Highland Colony Parkway, Ridgeland, MS 39157 in John's memory.
