He was predeceased by: his parents, William Ward Wimbish and Annie Irene Blalock Wimbish; his brother William Ward (Claire); and his wife Ava Wade. He is survived by: his sister JoAnn DuFrene (Larry); his children, Ellen Green (Eddie), Mary South (Phillip), Robert Wimbish (Tracy) and Jon Wimbish (Sharon); his grandchildren, Jessie DeBord, Allison Green, Sarah, Molly Wimbish, Ethan, Audrey South, Lauryn, John, Jason and Lydia Wimbish; his great grandchildren, Sophie, Timmy and Evie DeBord; and his sister Jo. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Due to Covid-19 concerns, there will be a private burial.
