He was predeceased by: his parents, David Jacob and Mary Pearlie Fell South; his grandparents, John Bryson, Mahalia Odom South, Henry Jackson and Janie Kidd Fell; and his siblings, May Crumpton, Alfred "Bill" South and Aaron South.
He is survived by: his wife Lola Moore South; his sons, Thomas Gene South (Terri) and David Ray South (Teresa); his grandchildren, Christopher South, Lauren Brock (Adam), Jackson South, Matthew South (Stephanie) and Alexandria Weber (Brian); his great grandchildren, Elijah South, Logan South and Emma Caroline Weber; and his grandson-in-law Brian Weber.
