He was predeceased by: his parents, Roy Alfred and Mamie Barnes Gaines; and his siblings, Willie Grisham (Gerald), Aubie Fay Burcham (Alton), James Gaines (Evelyn) and John Gaines (Nell).
He is survived by: his daughter Alison Gaines Parker (Brian Allen Parker); and his granddaughters, Ambra Rose Parker and Briann Alisabeth Parker. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
