He was predeceased by: his wife Lisa Pickle Dean; and his father Henry William Dean. He is survived by: his mother Jewel Dean; his children, Joseph Dean and Kendra Dean; his sister Vicki Bunch (Thomas) of Iuka; his close friend Donna McDonald; and his pet Theo. He is also survived by four grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.
