She was predeceased by: her son Randy Whitfield; her parents, Roy Wilbanks and Ruby Crum Wilbanks; her siblings, J. V. Wilbanks, Herman Wilbanks and Kay Hale; and the father of her children James Whitfield.

She is survived by: her daughter Darlene Kennedy; her granddaughter Darby Danielle Kennedy; and her sisters, Mary Kennedy and Sue Ballard.

In Lieu of flowers the family ask that memorial donations can be made to the Alzheimer Association or St Jude Children Hospital .
