He was predeceased by: his parents, James Burdette Sykes and Vercye May Tankesly Sykes; and his brother J. B. Sykes, Jr.. He is survived by: his wife Jean Lyon Sykes; his children, Gary Sykes (Paula) of Indianola, Lisa Sykes (Karen) of Greenwood and Pam Field (Mitchell) of Cleveland; his grandchildren, Dalton Sykes (Anna McClain), Anna Claire Mabus (Clint), Noah Watts, Madison Farr (Kaci), Sydney Farr, Josh Field (Cody), Ryan Dees (Alex) and Brett Field (Anne Barton); and his great grandchildren, John Grittman, Stratton, Allie Grace, Bennett, Grant and Riley Ann.
