He was predeceased by: his parents, James Monroe Cockrell and Lucille Holmes Cockrell; his son Billy "Ray" Cockrell, Jr.; his siblings, Winford "Wimp" Cockrell, Bobby Cockrell, Charles Cockrell, Frankie Ellis and Doris Bennett; and his nephews, Bill Bennett and Scottie Mitchell.
He is survived by: his wife Sara Williamson Cockrell; his daughter Angela Cockrell Schad (Chay) of Coila; his sisters, Barbara Amason (Arnold) of Mize, Charlotte Holloway (Anthony) of Avoca and Jean Donald of Cordova, Tennessee; and his grandchildren, Swep, Mason, Matthew and Madalynn.
Visitation was held on Friday, November 29th 2024 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Burton Funeral Home (634 US-82, Indianola, MS 38751). A funeral service was held on Friday, November 29th 2024 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
