He was predeceased by: his parents, Mitchell Burgess and Evaleen Holland Burgess; his wife Carol Ann Watkins Burgess; his son-in-law Tommy Black; and his sister-in-law Lorene Burgess.
He is survived by: his daughters, Nina Black of Thorn, Pam Burgess of Thorn and Misty Burt (Garland) of Thorn; and his siblings, Odell Burgess of Houston and Shirley Haire (Clovis) of Pittsboro. He is also survived by eleven grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Thursday, February 13th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM and on Friday, February 14th 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM. A funeral service was held on Friday, February 14th 2025 at 12:00 PM at the Thorn Church of God (1513 Co Rd 405, Houston, MS 38851).
