He was predeceased by: his parents, Clarence Pettit and Audrey Pettit; his stepmother Edna Patterson Pettit; his son Randy Lee Pettit; his siblings, Olean Vance, Pearlie Dulaney, Virginia Spencer, Ruby McCardle, Amgean Walters, Prentiss Pettit, Vester "Buck" Pettit, Clarence O'Neal Pettit and Mervin Pettit; and his great great grandchild Zayden Heath Fowler.
He is survived by: his wife Mary Helen Rhodes Pettit; his children, Brucey Pettit (Amanda) of Houston, Debra Roberts (Jimmy) of Pontotoc, Paula Potts (Wayne) of Houston and Amanda Pettit of Houston; and his sister Louise McGee (Doc Wayne). He is also survived by sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law; twelve grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends.
