She was predeceased by: her parents, Sidney Preston Oates and Ethel Perkins Oates; and her sister Eileen Oates Chaffin. She is survived by: her daughters, Sue Seratt (Bill) of Vicksburg and Kim Furr (David) of Hollandale; her grandchildren, Lamar Furr (Meredith), Mary Mason Furr Bailey (Brandon) and Elizabeth Seratt; and her great grandchildren, Marlee Furr, John David Furr, Sydney Elise Bailey and Allyson Bailey.

In lieu of flowers, friends are encouraged to donate to Baptist Children's Village or St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital.
