He is survived by: his wife Kathy Pates of Heidelberg; his daughter Brandy Pates of Sandersville; his siblings, Joe Pates (Doris) of Ellisville and Evelyn Hinton of Ellisville; his grandson Hunter Lightsey; his great grandchild Malory Nixon; his stepson James Mitchell of Laurel; and his stepgrandchildren, Kelsie Mitchell, Connor Mitchell, Carter Mitchell and Rain Valentine.
