It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of William W. McKinley Sr. (Hattiesburg, Mississippi), born in Jackson, Mississippi, who passed away on February 11, 2020, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Robert Louie McKinley and Sarah Whitfield Jones; his wife Susan Willis McKinley; his stepchildren, Lance Brownson and Delie Putnam; his niece Stephanie; his nephew Robert; and his grandchildren, Currie, Daniel, Matthew, Mason, Gray, Owen and Lucas.

“I was privileged to teach with Billy at UT during the first decade of the new millenium. He was an excellent instructor, firm, but kind and with a wonderfully dry sense of humor. He and I shared a love of sailing, not only in conversation, but also sailing together at Pickwick Lake. He was a true gentleman, and there aren't enough of them left in this world. He will be fondly remembered and truly missed.”
