He was predeceased by: his parents, James Blaine and Julia Kauffman Scarborough; his wife Patricia Carruthers Scarborough; his half-siblings, Ernest N. Scarborough of Newark and Lucille Richardson of Charlotte; and his sister-in-law Elizabeth Lennartson of Palm Coast, Florida..

He is survived by: his children, Catherine Lee Krohn (Robert) of Annapolis, Maryland and William Bradley Scarborough (Charlotte) of Plano, Texas; his grandchildren, Michael Krohn of Odenton, Maryland, William Bradley Scarborough, Jr. (Elizabeth) of Allen, Texas, James Phillip Scarborough (Samantha) of Houston, Texas and Charlotte Krohn of Fort Collins, Colorado; his great grandchildren, William Sawyer Scarborough of Allen, Texas, James Beckett Scarborough of Houston, Texas and Sydney Grace Scarborough of Allen, Texas; his niece Roberta Betts (Fred); and his nephews, Lawrence Dull (Jewell) and Bruce Dull (Elaine) of Palm Coast, Florida..
