He was predeceased by: his son Jonathan Michael Farris; his parents, Isaac Howard and Doris Ann Walters Farris; and his parents-in-law, James Leonard and Billie Metcalf Speake.

He is survived by: his wife Sarah Dixie Speake Farris; his children, Nancy Farris, Chris Farris (Dana), Tim Farris (Bridgett), Jeff Farris (Shannon) and Jamie Farris (Misty); his daughter-in-law Susan Farris; his grandchildren, Colton Farris, Chance Farris (Elizabeth), Callie Farris Wilson (Grant), Abby Farris, Madelyn Farris, Dru Wilson (Logan), John Blakeney (Conner), Tanner Blakeney, Paige Farris and Tyler Jordan; his siblings, Ike Farris (Dottie), Helen Davis (Ott), Faye Heathcock and Patricia Sutton (Randall); and his caregiver Mimi Gale. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
