He was predeceased by: his parents, Felder Kirkpatrick and Lena Kirkpatrick; and his siblings, Clara Wallace and F. M. Kirkpatrick. He is survived by: his wife Janice Kirkpatrick of Hattiesburg; his children, Deanna Stewart (Mike) of Hattiesburg, Sherry Kinkopf (Bill) of Hattiesburg and Russ Kirkpatrick (Michelle) of Mobile, AL; and his grandchildren, Paige Stephens (Brad), Kaitlyn Kirkpatrick, Sarah Kathleen Stewart, Daniel Kinkopf, Griffin Stewart and Maddie Kirkpatrick. He is also survived by three great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
