He was predeceased by: his parents, Alfred Cook Hurst and Lois Busby Hurst; his son Joseph Benjamin Hurst; and his grandchildren, Roman Maqueda and Regan McKelvey.
He is survived by: his wife Peggy Daniels Hurst; his children, Fred, Jr. (Jody), Cheryl Maqueda (Francisco), Amy McKelvey (John) and Alyssa Lee (Russ); his grandchildren, Olivia Hurst Hodges (Tyler), Nathan Hurst, Daniel Maqueda (LeAnne), Meredith McKelvey, Carmichael McKelvey, Mara McKelvey, Joseph Lee and Jessa Lee; and his great grandchildren, Grayson Hodges, Tanner Hodges and Leo Maqueda.
In lieu of flowers the family wishes for memorials to be made to Roman Francisco Maqueda Memorial Scholarship Fund c/o of William Carey University.
