He is survived by: his wife Diane Bailey Shepherd of Hattiesburg; his daughter Rebecca Margrete Shepherd Sones (Ben); his siblings, Hazel Pauline Pope (Buddy) of Theodore, AL, Margaret Ann Chapman of Bessemer, AL, Mavis Joy Jelte, Judith Karen Somers (Wesley) of Panama City, FL, Lisa Joanne Hammers (Michael) of Conway, AR, Roy Harold Shepherd (Judi) of Columbus, MS, Stephen Cedric Shepherd (Eileen) of Spartanburg and Walter Mark Ekes of Panama City, FL; and his grandchildren, Summer Mason Lee, Shelby Brooke Lee and Bowen Gunner Sones.

“I had Mr Shepherd for Deca in the late 70’s at Starkville High School. He inspired me to work hard and be successful. He was a great teacher who cared about his students. The Deca trip to Biloxi was so much fun. I just found out two years after his death. My prayers go out to his wife and daughter.”
