It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Elizabeth Ann Newell Payne of Hattiesburg, Mississippi, who passed away on January 9, 2024, at the age of 79, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her husband James Larry Payne, Sr. (Larry); her parents, Audella Whicher Newell and George Ashbel Newell Sr.; and her siblings, George Ashbel Newell Jr. and Mary Newell Corkern.
She is survived by: her brother William Russell Newell (Shari); her sons, Jimmy (Wyn), Keith (Audra) and Arlys (Lauren); her grandchildren, Brooke (Josh Carpenter), Hannah (Alex Goforth), Jessica, Austin, Carson, Dustin, Rebecca and Summer; her great grandchildren, Riley Carpenter and Scottie Carpenter; and her stepgrandchildren, Karsen (Dylan Maddox), Deac Motter and Tucker Motter.
