With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Clifford Rutland of Hattiesburg, Mississippi, born in Bassfield, Mississippi, who passed away on September 16, 2023. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, James Andrew and Lucy Herrin Rutland; his wife Mary Haddox; his daughter Joyce Rutland Newell; and his siblings, Essie Mae Sumrall, Frances Esther Clark, Vondee Jackson, Marjorie Nell Hauenstein, James Edward Rutland and Louie Walton Rutland.
He is survived by: his daughters, Jackie Rutland Lott of Bassfield and Sandy Rutland McAlister (Tony) of Hattiesburg; his grandchildren, Jeffrey Newell (MS) of Guntown, Joseph Newell (MS) of Tupelo, Leslie Lott (LA) of Metairie and Andrew Lott (AL) of Oxford; his great grandchildren, Brannan Newell (MS) of Guntown and Finn Lott (AL) of Oxford; and his sister Doris Clark Davis (MS) of Tupelo. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
