She was predeceased by: her parents, Kathleen Jones Elliott of Texas and O'Neal McDaniel of Mississippi; her husband James Slay; and her grandson Joe Slay, Jr.. She is survived by: her sister Harriet Black of Texas; her children, Jimmy Slay of Texas, Johnny Slay of Mississippi, Joe Slay of Texas and Jerry Slay of Mississippi; her grandchildren, Misty Slay of Texas, Amanda Slay of Florida, Justin Slay of Texas, Jonathan Slay of Mississippi and Cody Slay of Mississippi; and her nephews, Keith Black of North Carolina and Chris Black of Texas. She is also survived by five great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.
