She was predeceased by: her parents, Raymond Russell and Ann Russell; and her son Joel Thomas Trussell. She is survived by: her husband James A. Trussell of Hattiesburg; her children, Jay Trussell of Hattiesburg and Karen Trussell Canard (Jonathan) of Hattiesburg; and her grandchildren, Dylan Trussell of Hattiesburg, Nathan Canard of Hattiesburg and Skylar Canard of Hattiesburg.

The family has established an endowed scholarship in Arlyn's name through the USM Foundation.
