He was predeceased by: his former wife Nell Ruth Tingle; and his children, Brenda Kaye Tingle Freeman and Barry Edward Tingle. He is survived by: his wife Earline Tingle of Holcomb; his children, Carolyn Grace of Money, Mississippi, Sara Smith of Money, Mississippi, Thomas Gregory Tingle (Grace) of Corpus Christie, Lee Smith (Annette) of Holcomb and Fred Smith of Greenwood; his daughter-in-law Judy Tingle of Holcomb; and his siblings, Rita Bonner of Leflore, Agatha Tanner (Stuart) of Houma, Louisiana and Henry Tingle (Barbara) of Collierville, Tennessee. He is also survived by eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
