It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Joe L. Downs Jr. (Grenada, Mississippi), who passed away on December 11, 2018, at the age of 93, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Joe L. Downs and Rosie Lee Wiltshire Downs; his son Johnny Downs; and his siblings, Josie Downs, Jack Downs, John W. Downs and George H. Downs.
He is survived by: his wife Vera Hopper Downs; his children, Linda Downs Flemmons, Joyce Downs Vickers, George Downs and Jimmy Downs; his siblings, Elsie Morrison, Dan Downs, Robert "Bob" Downs and Henry "Buck" Downs; and his uncle Junior. He is also survived by ten grandchildren; twenty-seven great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild on the way; and many nieces and nephews.
