It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Ella Whitten of Grenada, Mississippi, born in Batesville, Mississippi, who passed away on March 14, 2024, at the age of 89, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Brent Durr and Elva Bevell Cockrell; and her husband William Durwood Whitten. She is survived by: her children, Allison Ashmore of Grenada, Denise Hogan (Guy) of Clinton and Dr. William Durwood Whitten, Jr. (Michael Hyman) of Baltimore, MD; her brother Larry Cockrell (Wanda); her grandsons, William D. Whitten, III, William Ward Ashmore, George Brent Ashmore and John Luke Whitten; and her great grandchildren, Ella Ambrose Ashmore, William Durwood "Liam" Whitten, IV, Olivia Blake Whitten and Ivy Belle Whitten.
Memorials may be directed to the First Presbyterian Church in Grenada.
