He was predeceased by: his wife Grace Proffer; his son Mike Ward; and his siblings, Jewel White and Dean Proffer. He is survived by: his children, Dennis Proffer of Grenada, Larry Proffer (Judy) of Hixson, TN, Earl Earley of Southaven, Richard Wells, Jr. of Gulfport, Susan Hensel (Douglas) of Lodi, CA, Vicki Earley of Southaven and Jane Jones of Knoxville, TN. He is also survived by grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be directed to the Wounded Warrior Project or the Gary Sinise Foundation.
