He was predeceased by: his parents, Lucille Howell and Stanley Howell; his daughter Patricia Aven; and his siblings, Kathryn Magee and Jerry Howell.
He is survived by: his wife Patsy Carter Simmons; his daughters, Billie Lynn Jones of Grenada, Kathy Cleveland (Butch) of Baskin, LA, Linda Brunson of Grenada and Paula Simmons of Grenada; his sister Frankie Applewhite of McCall Creek, MS; and his grandchildren, B. J. Jones, John Jones, Curtis Rose, Richard Cleveland, Lauren Rogers, Brittany Brunson and Carter Aven. He is also survived by nine great-grandchildren.
