He was predeceased by: his parents, Jessie Levi and Amiree Reese Sims; and his sisters, Virginia Vail and Jessie Kate Davidson. He is survived by: his wife Carol of Montpelier, MS; his daughter Vikki Pilecki (Jay) of Greenwood, MS; his granddaughter Anna Pilecki of Ocean Springs, MS; and his brother Roy Sims of Columbus, MS.
