He was predeceased by: his parents, S. M. Courtney and Jane Colson Courtney; and his sister Eloise Couch. He is survived by: his wife Kay Makamson Courtney of Starkville; his children, Jason Courtney (Courtney) of Brandon, MS and Janna Sanford (Sean) of Starkville, MS; his sister Barbara Schilling (Doug) of Magnolia, MS; and his grandchildren, Thomas Courtney, Julia Courtney, Clara Jane Courtney and Lyla Sanford. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
