She was predeceased by: her parents, Maudine Hightower and Linwood Hightower; her granddaughter Jamie Claire Smith; her children-in-law, Dean Smith and Kim Upchurch; her sister Sandra Byers; and her nephew Reed Pickering.

She is survived by: her husband Glenn Upchurch; her children, Chip Upchurch (Sarah), Melanie Upchurch Smith and Chuck Upchurch (Betsy); and her sisters, Betty LaMantia (Richard), Kaye Felter (Herbert) and Carol Pickering (Dan). She is also survived by eight grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that any memorials be made to the Hillview Baptist Church Building Fund at 23919 Hwy 430 S, Greenwood, MS 38930.
