She was predeceased by: her parents, Earl Vowell and Maude Saxon Vowell; her husband Lin; and her siblings, Woodrow Vowell, Herbert Vowell, Aaron Vowell, Mike Vowell of Thomas, Fredrick "Buddy" Vowell, Joe Vowell, Mary Pearl Walters, Sara Romedy, Sue Oliver and Marguerite Sisson.
She is survived by: her sons, Jonathan Reed (Christy) and Bobby Burton (Gloria); and her stepchildren, Lesa Nichols (Neill), Tamra Sant and Linville "Troy" Reed, Jr.. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren/great-great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made in her honor to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee.
