He was predeceased by: his father Clifford James Carrell; and his grandmother Minnie Johnson. He is survived by: his mother Alice Carrell; his children, Morgan McFerrin (Evan) and Dustin Carrell (Madison); his sister Donna Smiley (Troy); and his grandchildren, Audrey, Bennett McFerrin and Sawyer James Carrell.
