He was predeceased by: his parents, Kenneth Harlon Shotts and Avanell "Nell" Bennett Shotts; and his sons, Dirk Bennett, Lance Bennett, Tommy Kline, Ken Mathis, Randy McElroy, Reggie Johnson, Allen Popetz, Carl Gaddy, Frank Gaddy, Jared Harris, Kevin Nicholson and Larry Pate.
He is survived by: his wife Karen Shotts of Fulton; his son Brent Farrar (Jenny) of Tupelo; his grandchildren, Gatlin Farrar, Fischer Farrar and Stella Rae Farrar; his brothers, Steve Shotts (Phyllis) of Weatherford, TX and Larry Shotts (Carolyn) of Hatley; and his siblings-in-law, Martha Shotts, Beth Shotts, Cindy Barnes and Joey Steele (Jana). He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
