He was predeceased by: his parents, John E. Cave, Sr. and Delores Cave; his daughter Irene Vogel; his siblings, Neil Cave and Patricia Stanovich; and his granddaughters, Lori Bourgeois and Elayna Noelle Slocum.

He is survived by: his significant other Elaine Cave; and his children, Lori Slocum (Chad), Lisa Magee (Clint), Tammy Burke (Steve), Michelle Cave, Brent Cave (Natalie) and Scott Cave (Melissa). He is also survived by twenty Grandchildren, and a number of Great Grandchildren, Nieces and Nephews.
