With profound sadness, we say goodbye to James Mitchell of Forest, Mississippi, born in Doddsville, Mississippi, whose vibrant spirit touched the lives of many. James left this world on November 5, 2024 at the age of 88, leaving a void in the lives of so many people. He was predeceased by: his parents, James Otis and Tennie Mitchell; and his brothers, Bobby Mitchell, Donald Mitchell and Sonny Mitchell.
He is survived by: his wife Julia Maxine Mitchell; his children, Jeff Mitchell (Susan), Jan Mitchell Maner (Tony) and John Mitchell; and his siblings, Patricia Crosby, Peggy Dickerson (Bill), Brenda Crosby, Jimmy Mitchell (Linda) and Dianne Usry (David Joe). He is also survived by 18 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Saturday, November 9th 2024 from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Hillcrest Church (3790 MS-35, Forest, MS 39074). A celebration of life was held on Saturday, November 9th 2024 at 1:00 PM at the same location. A graveside service was held on Saturday, November 9th 2024 at the Homewood Methodist Church Cemetery (8720 MS-35, Forest, MS 39074).
