He is survived by: his wife Holly Grace Burns; his children, John Robert Burns, Kaytlin Grace Burns and Kameron Parker Burns; his stepdaughter Kayce Elizabeth Kennedy; his mother Marcia Shipp Burns; and his brothers, Rusty Burns and Kirbye Burns.
In lieu of flowers, Colley requested donations be made to the education trust set up for his two youngest children.
