He was predeceased by: his parents, Joe Downard and Wilma Downard; and his siblings, Dr. JT Downard, Grace Peeples and Wilma Lee Robbins.

He is survived by: his wife Bette Downard; his children, Jeff Downard (Liz) of Florence, Monty Downard (Leisa Boatler) of Florence and Jill Wynn (Donny) of Canton; his sister Mary Alice Hydrick of Florence; his grandchildren, Jason Downard (Amanda R.), Amanda C. Downard, Alexandria Newell, Blake Newell and Graham Newell; and his great grandchildren, Gage and Avery Downard.

In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials be made to Marvin United Methodist Church.
