Irma Ruth Smith Obituary

She was predeceased by: her parents, Olif Thompson Matthews, Sr. and Willie Elizabeth Walters Matthews; her children, David Eugene Smith (Melanie), Rachel Elizabeth Smith-Smith (Lawson) and Mark Thompson Smith (Deborah); her husband Calvin Smith; her children-in-law, Lawson Smith and Melanie Smith; her granddaughters, Amanda Ruth Slocum and Baby Smith; her siblings, Alton Matthews, Joe Paul Matthews, Will Matthews and Gail Dear; her siblings-in-law, Dale Glass, Ed Green, Lamar Smith, Burney Smith, Lee Roberts, Mildred Phillips Matthews Amason, Pearl Smith and Emma Virginia Roberts; and her nephews, Brad Matthews, Doug Ming and Gene Thomas.

She is survived by: her grandchildren, Eric Eugene Smith (Chrisy), Courtney Leigh Smith Ritz (Scott), Erin Elana Smith Sutherland (Brent), Christopher William Slocum, Joshua Melrose Smith (Calen), Brandtly Micah Smith and Kathryn Ann Elizabeth Thompson; her siblings, Olif Thompson Matthews, Jr. (Betty), Pat Matthews (Peggy), Betty Glass, Nancy Green and Sandra Buffington; and her sister-in-law Kathleen Matthews. She is also survived by six great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation was held on Friday, February 14th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the First Baptist Church (102 E Main St, Florence, MS 39073). A funeral service was held on Friday, February 14th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the same location. A burial was held on Friday, February 14th 2025 from 2:00 PM to 2:30 PM at the Florence Cemetery (244 N Church St, Florence, MS 39073).
