He was predeceased by: his parents, Thomas E. Buchanan, Sr. and Betty Alice Blankenship Buchanan. He is survived by: his children, Charlsey Buchanan of Eupora, MS, David Gray (Donna) of Columbus, MS, Michael Buchanan (Jennie) of Dallas, TX, Matthew Buchanan (Jordan) of Summerdale, AL and Coleson Buchanan of Maben, MS. He is also survived by nine grandchildren and one great grandchild.
