He was predeceased by: his parents, James Edwards Mayo and Dorothy Elaine Bain Mayo; and his granddaughter Bailee Wilson. He is survived by: his daughters, Jennifer Simmons (Yolanda) of Brandon, Kaley Engle of Kosciusko, Ashley Mayo of Sherwood, Hannah Clark of Kosciusko and Courtney Engle of Kosciusko, Mississippi; and his siblings, Glenn Mayo (Diane) of Ethel, Mississippi, Debra Hodge (Mack) of Byram and Carol Sanders. He is also survived by fourteen grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
