INTERMENT: Soule's Chapel Cemetery VISITATION: Saturday, February 24, 2018 Jones and Son Funeral Home 5:00-9:00 p.m.
Services for Mr. Woodie Anderson, age 78, of Ellisville will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, February 25, 2018 in the Moselle chapel of Jones and Son Funeral Home. Bro. Jimmy Holder will officiate with burial to follow in the Soule's Chapel Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Daniel Hopkins, Jessica Tisdale, Austin Cherry, Chance Cherry, Michael Speed and Larry Anderson. Honorary pallbearer will be Herman Smith.
Mr. Anderson was a good Christian man who was a loving and dedicated husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, son and brother. He was married for 41 years to his first wife, Margie Anderson and 10 years to his present wife, Nancy Anderson. He worked with the Mississippi Forestry Commission for 42 years and was lovingly known as "Smokey the Bear". He loved walking in the woods, fishing, hunting, farming and visiting with family and friends. His favorite hangout was Ward's Pharmacy. He never met a stranger and was loved by all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Margie Anderson; son, Malcolm West; parents, Jake and Stella Anderson; brother, John Anderson and sister, Carolyn Anderson.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy Anderson of Ellisville; daughters, Ann Anderson of Soso, Diane (Hugh) Cherry of Waynesboro and Brenda (Todd) Hopkins of Ellisville; son, Maynard (Lora) West of Collins; brothers, Paul (Joyce) Anderson, Earl (Norma) Anderson; sisters, Dorothy Montague, Sybil (Nelson) Bounds and Cheryl (Jimmy) Speed; grandchildren, Brandi Purvis, Jessica Tisdale, Courtney and RJ Bourliea, Dianna Blackledge, Austin and Chance Cherry, Daniel Hopkins, Jayden Barnett and Lucas West; great-grandchildren, Bella and Caleb Pack, Kadien Purvis, Chase, Emily and Charlotte Blackledge, Lexie and Rowyn Cherry, Trinity and Lexis Tisdale and a host of nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held Saturday, February 24, 2018, 5:00-9:00 p.m. at Jones and Son Funeral Home in Moselle.
