It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Oliver Wendell Smith of Ellisville, Mississippi, who passed away on March 16, 2022, at the age of 80, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Wendell Smith and Cecile Smith of Ellisville, Mississippi.; his wife Reba Jean; his children, Oliver Jr. and Wendy Lynn McRorie (John); his grandsons, Tyler McRorie and Zachary McRorie (Makayla); his great grandchildren, Rose and Charlotte; and his foster daughter Lisa Mudd (Vickie).

“Please accept my condolences. Ollie was one of my favorite Carbiders. It was always a pleasure working with him on projects, learning from him about coating technology, playing golf, attending conferences, and being teammates on new product teams with him. As Peter and Martha have already said, he was truly a kind and well-liked scientist. Whenever I needed help from him, during and after our Carbide careers, he would always gladly assist. Ollie will be sadly missed by many.”
