He was predeceased by: his parents, James T. Sr. Jones and Pauline Jones; his siblings, C. B. Jones and Ruby J. McKinzie; and his grandson Brett A. Jones.
He is survived by: his wife June Dale Jones; his sons, David Jones (Virginia) and James Dale 'Bubba Jones; his grandchildren, Natalie Jones Thurman and Lance Fagan Jones (Adrianne); his great grandchildren, Bryce Turner, Blayne Turner, Olivia Jones, Aubrey Jones, Carson Jones, Rase Jones and Lillian Jones; and his brother Leroy Jones. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to Salem Heights Baptist Church or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
