He was predeceased by: his wife Frances Ruth Dykes; his parents, Henry Buford and Lottie Dykes; his daughter Patricia Ann Dykes; and his brothers, Charles Dykes, Gerald Dykes and Rudolph Dykes.
He is survived by: his children, Robert Dykes (Kay) and Beverly Hensarling (Rex); his grandchildren, Tessa Welch, Donald Ray (Danielle), D. J. Todd (Jordan) and Kayce Everett (J. T.); his great grandchildren, Elizabeth Hilbun, Ethan Hilbun, Madsion DeHaan, Grayson Welch, Adaline Welch, Henson Everett, Harvey Everett, Riley Todd and Hollyn Todd; and his sister Judy Helms (Albert).
