He was predeceased by: his former wife Margie Ann Higginbotham Flake; his parents, William Earnest and Onie Conner Flake; and his brother-in-law Charles Thomas. He is survived by: his wife Shirley Mathews Flake; his children, Ronald (Janet), Donald, Travis (Sarah) and Glenda Flake Hill (Tom); his grandchildren, Amber Hill, Alex Hill (Melissa), Anna Claire Flake White (Nathan), Ethan Flake (Caroline), Whit Flake, Roy Flake, Tyler Flake (Jessie), Jimmy Flake (Johnna), Lisa Phillips (Todd) and Carl Breedlove; his stepchildren, David Mathews, Randy Mathews (Mary Ellen), Pam Mathews McCullough (Richard) and Kevin Mathews; and his siblings, Elizabeth Flake Thomas, Faye Flake Dawkins (Charles) and Nowell Flake (Kathy). He is also survived by seventeen great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.
