With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Elder Willie Lee Johnson Sr. of Ecru, Mississippi, who passed away on April 6, 2025 at the age of 77. Family and friends are welcome to send flowers or leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Tom T. Johnson, Sr. and Virgie Lee Clemmer-Johnson; his siblings, Tom T. Johnson Jr. and Eveleana Johnson-Wilson; his daughter Joyce Johnson-Perkins; and his grandson Jeremiah Johnson.
He is survived by: his wife Lavoria Johnson of Ecru, MS; his children, Willie Lee Johnson, Jr. of Cordova, TN, David Johnson of Ecru, MS, Michael Johnson of New Albany, MS, Geneva Sanford (Tony) of New Albany, MS, Debbie Moss (Jerry) of Memphis, TN and Lacshanda Hatch of Ecru, MS; his sister Annie Lee Spight of Ripley, MS; and his godchildren, Shuna Judon, Brandon Cole and Keyllei Young. He is also survived by 19 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Friday, April 11th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Serenity Funeral Home (722 Coulter Dr, New Albany, MS 38652). The lying in state was held on Saturday, April 12th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the St. James Temple Church of God in Christ (719 Ashland Rd, Ripley, MS 38663). A funeral service was held on Saturday, April 12th 2025 at 12:00 PM at the same location.
