He was predeceased by: his wife Anna Mae Diaz Montgomery; his son Charles "Chuck" Michael Montgomery; his daughter-in-law Lisa Cox Montgomery; his siblings, James Earl Montgomery, Leslie Frances Montgomery, Marie Elizabeth Montgomery, Ursula Montgomery Sherman and Doris Montgomery Stojcich; and his parents, Joseph Henry Montgomery and Catherine Fountain Montgomery.
He is survived by: his children, Joseph Jr., Robert Montgomery (Liz), James Montgomery (Tylah), Debra Gary, Cox Gary and Judy Gary (Joey); his daughter-in-law Sharon Montgomery; and his sister Catherine Montgomery Butterfield. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great- grandchildren.
