He was predeceased by: his parents, James Massey and Emma Lou Walters; his sister Dianne Goss; and his nephew Dewayne Chamblee. He is survived by: his wife Marie Massey of Decatur; his children, Wayne Massey, Christina Casey (Chris) and Doug Massey; his stepdaughters, Amber Lynn Harper and Danielle Dugger (Russell); his siblings, Ruby Doty (Danny), Shirley McKnight, Linda Waltman (Carson), Robert Spence, Danny Spence (Kathy), Ricky Spence (Tammy) and Scottie Walters (Jessica); his grandsons, Jay Massey (Rachel), Michael Massey (Angela) and Nicholas Massey; his great grandchildren, Ethan Massey, Austin Stacy and Addylynn Massey; and his pet Coco. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
