He was predeceased by: his parents, A. G. Shumaker and Mae Handforth Shumaker; his wife Nancy Thornton Shumaker; and his daughter Renee Shumaker. He is survived by: his daughter Gina Jones (Reggie); his stepchildren, Jody Burns (Janet) and Susie Girault (Johnny); his sisters, Edith Powell, Grace Prine, Marie LaBlanc and Rhonda James (Charles); and his grandchildren, Ashliegh Till (Jimmy), Cole Gandenberger (Catherine), Thomas Scott Jones, Shauna Gandenberger, John Cameron Jones, Robert Ellis Burns and Elliot Burns.
